"Hunger" is a translation by Mary Chavelita Dunne Bright, under the pen name George Egerton, of the Norwegian psychological novel "Sult".
"Sult" was originally written in 1890 by Knut Hamsun, winner of the 1920 Nobel Prize in Literature.
Mary Bright was a "New Woman" writer of the 19th-century and feminist.
